STOP SEARCHING...

Are your eyes glazing over from reading so many counselor profiles? Does it all just blur together into a giant “blah, blah, blah”? Well, good news—you’re looking for a therapist, and I happen to have a piece of paper that states I am a therapist!

I’m Derreka Walton, the owner and operator of The Couch Counseling Center. Am I some magical unicorn therapist with mystical healing powers? Nope. I have some magic wands, but they’re all broken—so instead, I rely on solid counseling skills and a sense of humor.

I’m a regular person, and I’ve been told multiple times by clients that I am not a robot (which, honestly, feels like a weirdly low bar, but I’ll take it). I’ve got kids, pets, a job, and a life—so yeah, pretty normal. I want the pain or hurt gone just as quickly as the next person, but unfortunately, I haven’t figured out how to zap it away yet. What I can do is come alongside and help you work through it.

My skills help people tackle all sorts of concerns: relationships, anxiety, depression, anger, and that general “What is even happening?” feeling. And honestly? I don’t always know what’s happening, either.

EVERYONE is different, and every problem is different. Finding a therapist is like finding the right pair of shoes—sometimes you gotta try a few on. I think we could be a great fit, but if not, no worries—I’ll help you find someone who is!

Let’s be real—counseling can suck.  I know because I’ve been there.

If I had to choose between therapy or assembling IKEA furniture while wearing winter mittens, I’d have gone with the furniture (hands down). But here’s the thing: skipping counseling didn’t solve my struggles.  I decided to try again and I found someone who didn’t make me want to run for the hills—someone who really saw me and gave me hope. And that’s what inspired me to become a counselor.

I’m Lisa, and I’m here to work with you as a team. I believe counseling should feel like a partnership—judgment-free, supportive, and focused on moving toward the same goals together.

I earned my Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience helping people work through things like depression, anxiety, and more.

I have specialized training in Brainspotting, a therapeutic approach that helps people process trauma, anxiety, and other difficult emotions. I also have experience working with couples, helping them navigate relationship challenges and strengthen their connections.

When I’m not counseling, you’ll find me spending time with my family, collecting rocks, or crocheting (not at the same time, though that could be a fun challenge).

When life feels overwhelming—whether from work, school, or family pressures—it’s easy to lose sight of what matters most.

I draw on both my personal experiences and years of professional expertise across corporate environments, manufacturing, and high-acuity inpatient settings to help individuals, couples, and families reclaim their balance.

I specialize in, Neurodiversity, stress, anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationship challenges, and helping clients rediscover their identity. My approach is rooted in empathy and a deep understanding of what it takes to turn over a new leaf. I guide clients through healing and growth, offering practical tools for managing work-related stress, combating burnout, and establishing healthier boundaries.

I also work with couples and families, strengthening relationships, fostering deeper connections, and creating lasting change. With a combination of compassion, humor, and evidence-based methods, I tailor my approach to each individual’s unique journey.

When I'm not working with clients, I like to volunteer my time helping others with career centered opportunities, being outdoors, spending time with my husband, daughter, friends, family and our two rambunctious cats.

Wherever you are in life—whether personally, in your relationships, or in your career—let’s turn over a new leaf together.

I believe in walking alongside my clients as they navigate their personal journeys toward becoming their best, most balanced selves.

With over 20 years of experience coaching teens and working in both blue and white-collar industries, I’ve gained valuable insight into the challenges people face. My background also includes crisis work and experience in corrections, which has deepened my understanding of human resilience and struggle.

As a man in this field, I feel a strong responsibility to advocate for other men to prioritize their mental health. I understand that it’s not always easy for men to seek help, and that weekly therapy may not feel like a realistic option. However, I want men to know they have every right to slow down, take a step back, and seek support when needed. It’s not a sign of weakness, but rather a step toward strength and self-awareness.

I meet clients where they are in their journey, understanding that everyone has their own vision of their best self. With my experience and perspective, I know how difficult it can be to manage the pressures of life and the expectations we place on ourselves. But no matter where you are in your story, I’m here to support you in finding balance and clarity.

Together, we’ll work toward your goals, helping you manage the challenges of life while moving forward with confidence.

Part of me wants to give up on counseling… but part of me wants to feel better.

What do you do when it feels like different parts of you are pulling you in opposite directions? When one part wants change, but another part feels stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure.

That’s where therapy can help.

I’m Courtney Covill, an Internal Family Systems (IFS) trained therapist. I help clients slow down and listen to the different parts of themselves—the ones that are desperate to be heard, and the ones quietly protecting them by staying hidden. When we begin to understand these parts with curiosity instead of judgment, real change becomes possible.

In my work, I often integrate IFS with Brainspotting, a powerful approach that helps people process trauma and difficult experiences stored in the body and nervous system.

I work with adults of all ages who want to better understand themselves and create meaningful change in their lives. My goal is to help you feel empowered, more connected to yourself, and better able to move forward. I strive to create a warm, accepting space where you can show up authentically. I also bring my own authenticity into sessions and often incorporate humor along the way.

When I’m not in my counseling chair, I’m usually spending time with those I love—my husband, our dog, and friends and family. I’m passionate about continuing to learn and will almost always have a podcast or book recommendation ready. I’m also an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, and enjoy kayaking, traveling, and video games.

If some part of you resonates with this, I’d love to connect and help you move toward the life you desire.

I believe life is hard and sometimes you get stuck, knowing you want more, but don't know how to achieve it. I also know therapy is hard and getting unstuck can seem scary.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor fluent in English, sarcasm, and am comfortable keeping up with sailer-talk. My approach is to be real, to keep therapy engaging, use humor to heal, help you de-mystify your brain, and walk with you as you grow. I don’t know everything and am comfortable with saying that; even more importantly, I am comfortable helping you work through the unknown.

I provide services for people struggling with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, effective parenting, stress, and trauma. I also offer Brainspotting therapy to help people process trauma or power through things that keep them“stuck”.

When you are ready to take the next step, I hope I can be there to walk with you.
